Hey, stealing other people's recipes has a long and proud tradition. And I must confess that I've done my share of notetaking in store aisles and have even run into bookstores just to look up nearby restaurant addresses (pre-cellphone 411).

As a former bookseller, I can assure you that we are not the only ones. Cookbooks and travel books are very popular in this regard. I don't necessarily think it's a crime, unlike, say, stealing the book, which also happens quite frequently.

That sounds fabulous! I love oatmeal/porridge although these spring mornings in New Zealand aren't really cold enough to indulge. Still, I can always lay in a store of dried cranberries...just in case...

Oatmeal aside, I've tagged you for the 23/5 Meme. There's more info here: http://www.bibliocook.com/archives/2005/10/235_meme.html

Hi! I loooove oatmeal, and actually made myself some today! (and last week too, as you can see in the recent post in my blog)
Yours sound good, but I like my oatmeal with milk.
Oh, and I have done the same thing about copying a recipe from a magazine at a bookstore... oops!

Sounds yummy--I have some dried cherries that I might try instead of the cranberries.

If your oatmeal-hating husband liked this one, then so can mine. Can't get him to eat oatmeal, even if there's nothing left in the house. And oh, I do the same with recipes that I find in books and magazines that I don't want to buy. Another great resource: the local library.

I have been known to photograph recipes when I didn't have access to a pen and paper. Not necessarily in a bookstore, as that would be illegal (heh), but still.
