Favorite Foodism of the Week
For San Diego Foodies
Yay! It’s my favorite time of the year! Another San Diego food blogger joins the club! Tess is a beginning culinary student who shares her experiences at cooking school, as well as local restaurant reviews. Check out The Journey of a Culinary Student.
Carmen Electra and Ashlee Simpson were in town this week to support the opening of the San Diego Hard Rock Condos Hotel Launch. Any one thinking of buying?
Recipes on the Radar
Check out this phenomenal meal that Chika from She Who Eats created from the cookbook Chef Interrupted. On the whole, this looks like a dream meal to me, totally suited to my tastes. And that cookbook was placed on my Amazon wishlist within 30 seconds of reading Chika’s post. Mega-yum!
Mushroom Tart from 80 Breakfasts
Goat Cheese Salad found on Leite’s Culinaria
Sounds like Indian comfort food to me… Waran Bahaat from One Hot Stove
Authentic Enchiladas from Simply Recipes (Oh! And her Bittersweet Chocolate Cake, too!)

I’d written out a more lengthy screed regarding the “Hard Rock Condos” before I decided to tone things back a bit. The gist of it was: “Isn’t the greater southern california housing market inflated enough without resorting to novelties to ratchet up the prices even more?” (There was also a rather colorful tangent regarding the celebrities they’d booked for the announcement, but that’s neither here nor there)
Having been in the Gaslamp Quarter only a handful of times (I live up in Orange county, and I only make it to that part of San Diego when my geekiness overwhelms me and I attend ComicCon), it seems like there’s enough history there that adding the Hard Rock Hotel can probably be described as “a damn shame.”
Maybe it’s a lost cause, considering that in that part of town it’s hard to throw anything without a relatively good chance of hitting a Starbucks.

Oh my! What a pleasant surprise to pop in here and find that my mushroom tart earned a mention from you!
Thank you so much…I am so thrilled!
You have a great blog and I will be returning soon…and with regards to what you have said above: “If you’ve ever closed your eyes and demanded silence during the perfect bite of food, then you’ll know what I mean…” –> I definitely know what you mean

Hey there girl! The ’seamless white background’ effect is REALLY easy. This is what you do. Go to a craft store and buy a few sheets of the biggest pieces of white posterboard that they have (non glossy). Prop it up against a wall or an appliance, so it has a curve to it, place your plated foods on top, and take a pic! Easy right? Try to set this up wherever you have the best natural light… the only other thing I do sometimes to make the white a little brighter is fiddle with brightness/color on photoshop 7. that is about it!
