Infusions of Tea in La Jolla

Filed under: Restaurants & Bars, San Diego — Beth @ 9:53 pm

In a perfect world, there would be an Infusions of Tea store on every corner, rather than a Starbucks. I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life, but I’ve become completely addicted to and obsessed with tea. I would say that at my daily liquid intake, at this point, is 50% water and 50% tea.

And what kind of tea do I drink daily? Well, I’m sure this is something like “tea heresy” but for convenience’s sake, I have the shelves of my garage stocked with the bottled teas from Trader Joe’s - Orange & Bergamot Green Tea and TeJava. I highly recommend them.

Again, in an ideal world, I could effortlessly procure unlimited daily servings of the exquisite, fresh-brewed teas and blends from Infusions of Tea. The store has a relaxing and almost meditative atmosphere and it’s totally tea-centric. Not a coffee bean to be found! It takes a little longer to get your tea at Infusions because they brew it fresh from loose tea leaves in individual portions just for you. I always get a large iced tea which they brew at double strength for me so that it is properly diluted when poured over ice.

I love trying a different tea each time I swing by. One of my favorites is the Ginger Peach Black Tea (fair trade with peaches, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger). Next I plan to try the Lemon Drop Tea (with natural lemon myrtle and black tea).

The large teas range in price from about $2.50 to $5.00 for a large (on ice or hot). To me, it’s worth it for the taste and the unique blends and even just the health of a freshly brewed tea. Plus, the staff is super-friendly and knowledgable and over-the-top passionate about tea leaves. If you enjoy brewing tea at home, you can buy loose leaves and tons of tea paraphenalia at Infusions. Someday I plan to go down that road…

I’ve mentioned Infusions of Tea to several people over recent months and nobody seems to be familiar with it. I think that’s a shame. If you’re a tea freak like me, or even if you think you don’t like tea but you’re curious, try Infusions of Tea.

Now do you see why I wish there were an Infusions on every block!?!
